What is an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon & What Procedures do they Perform?

An Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon is a Dental Specialist whose surgical knowledge of the intraoral region and the extraoral head and neck region is built upon: Four years of Dental School Education and an additional four to seven years of a hospital surgical residency. Some programs include Medical School training as well.

Dr. Emmett’s practice is a Full Scope Oral and Maxillofacial Surgical Practice. His practice has evolved over the last 20 years as his interests and patient population have changed. His current focus is in  “Dental Implantology”. Dr. Emmett performs 500-600 Dental Implants in his facility per year.

Additionally, Dr. Emmett cares for patients with problematic wisdom teeth, failing root canal treated teeth, missing teeth, hopeless and or infected teeth, temperomandibular joint disorders, facial pain, and malaligned jaws, as well as accident victims with facial trauma. He also administers treatment and reconstructive options to patients who have benign and malignant (cancer) pathology.

Dr. Emmett is concerned with the patient’s total health.

Dr. Emmett is open Monday - Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. and Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. We will schedule your appointment as promptly as possible.
